Post Consolidated Reports (CPR)
Below I have Comprised information pertaining to Information on the Importance of doing your Consolidated Post Report in a timely manner and how to do a CPR for your Post.
I am asking all Post Commanders and Post Adjutants within District 4 to Please start working on your Consolidated Reports as starting now makes it easier to finish up before May 1st.
Last year we only had 60.83% of Post in the State of Kentucky actually complete and submit their consolidated report.
The Consolidated Post Report (CPR) is arguably the most critical annual document for an American Legion post, serving as the official record of community service and operational activity.
Congressional Charter Compliance
- Mandatory Reporting: The American Legion operates under a federal charter that requires it to submit an annual report to Congress regarding its activities.
- Evidence of Impact: The CPR provides the necessary data to show Congress, in quantifiable ways, how the organization lives up to its mission of “Veterans Strengthening America”.
- Quantifying “Good”: The report tracks specific metrics, such as millions of dollars raised, thousands of volunteer hours, funeral honors provided, and youth programs sponsored (e.g., Boys State, Oratorical Contest).
- Showcasing “Be the One”: It documents initiatives like “Buddy Checks” (over 3,700 reported in 2021-22), which are crucial for suicide prevention.
- Small Post Recognition: The report is not just for large posts; it is vital for small- and medium-sized posts to share their local successes, showing that every post contributes to the collective story.
- Legislative Strength: When the National Commander testifies on Capitol Hill on behalf of veterans, they use the data compiled from the CPR to support their arguments.
- “Strength in Numbers”: The report transforms individual local efforts into a powerful, collective narrative.
- Barometer of Effectiveness: It serves as a “report card” for individual posts, helping them determine if they are fulfilling the vision of the organization’s founders.
- Post Excellence Award: 100% reporting is one of the four requirements to achieve the Post Excellence Award.
- Awards Verification: The data in the CPR is used to apply for and verify awards at the National Convention.
- 100% Reporting Goal: National commanders frequently set a goal of 100% reporting to maximize the visibility of the Legion’s work
